The CAAP implementation is organized within a tiered framework, including three main components: strategies, measures, and actions. Strategies are the high-level implementation components that comprise the main GHG emission source and adaptation sectors relevant to achieving the County’s CAAP goals.
Support the transition to electric vehicles(EVs) at the public and municipal levels.
Decrease transportation emissions by reducing single-occupancy vehicle trips and supportingtransit-oriented and infill development.
Expand access to energy efficiency programs while advancing retrofits in homes, businesses, rentals, and community infrastructure through outreach, incentives, and nature-based solutions.
Promote water recycling and stormwater capture.
Expand composting and recycling efforts at County facilities, divert construction and demolition waste, and reduce emissions from waste by repurposing inedible food scraps for livestock feed.
Decarbonize agricultural equipment and increase the use of electric and zero-emission off-road and landscaping equipment.
Reduce chemical inputs and expand water management practices that curb methane emissions.
Support carbon sequestration on Yolo County’s natural and working lands by promoting climate-smart farming, grazing, and agroforestry practices, and exploring a locally administered Carbon Credit Exchange to support land stewardship that advances our climate goals.
Provide educational programs to assist residents and communities in reducing the climate and ecological impacts of their consumption habits.
Increase the ability of individuals, communities, systems, institutions, and businesses to withstand, recover, and thrive in the face of climate change and chronic stress, prioritizing those who are most vulnerable and/or exposed to the impacts of climate change.
