Description
Develop and support incentive programs that encourage the adoption of crop varieties that are more resilient to drought and heat and require fewer synthetic fertilizer inputs. This action focuses on partnering with research institutions, technical assistance providers, and agricultural organizations to identify suitable crop varieties, support on-farm trials, and reduce financial and technical barriers to adoption. Incentives may include grant funding, cost-share programs, and technical assistance to help growers transition to and successfully manage these climate-resilient crops, while maintaining productivity and economic viability.
UC Cooperative Extension (UCCD) and University of California, Davis both initiate research and provide farmers with current research. Yolo County farmers participate in trials for climate resilience strains of crops.
