CAAP Action Description

Increase managed groundwater recharge on working croplands that capture rain and storm runoff and redirect water during periods of extended high flows, allowing water to enter aquifers in a manner that does not exacerbate water quality issues and ensures diversions are protective of native fish and wildlife.

Status of Implementation
The YCFC&WCD continues to implement the winter recharge program. As of February 19, 2026, the YCFC&WCD successfully diverted 3,800 acre feet of winter flows from Cache Creek for recharge on farm fields and in the earthen canal system. The YCFC&WCD will be applying for a long-term water right from State Water Board to continue this program in the long term.
