CAAP Action Description

Hire a Yolo County Open Space Technician. Explore opportunities to hire a technician for restoration and enhancement work within Yolo County's natural lands. The technician would be a permanent position to work in the field with Putah Creek Council, Tuleyome, Yolo County Resource Conservation District, Yolo Basin Foundation, Putah Creek Trout, Solano County Water Agency, and others who staff or volunteer for efforts on County park grounds. The position would also coordinate with government agencies for regulatory purposes and engage with the community for open space area activities that promote sustainability in the natural environment.

The Yolo County Resource Conservation District provides some management service to Putah Creek Fishing Access, Grasslands Regional Park, Woodland Regional Park, Woodland Stormwater Basins, City of Davis Open Space, and mitigation properties held by the Yolo Habitat Conservancy included in the Yolo Habitat Conservation Plan/Natural Community Conservation Plan (Yolo HCP/NCCP). Yolo County Dept. of General Services Staff will evaluate the need for additional staff following a department reorganization.

Status of Implementation
In late 2025, the County reorganized its various parks, natural resources, and conservation functions under the General Services Department to more effectively and efficiently use existing staff resources. Upon completion of the reorganization, County staff will evaluate its needs for additional staff.
